5 Things I Wish I Knew About the Open Sooner
Hello,
The CrossFit Open is here, and if you’re still on the fence about signing up, I get it — I was in the same spot once. But looking back, there are a few things I wish I had known sooner that would have made my decision a no-brainer. So here they are:
1. You Don’t Need to Be an Elite Athlete
- Rx’d – for advanced athletes
- Scaled – for intermediate levels
- Foundations – perfect for beginners (yes, even if you just started CrossFit!)
Most people signing up are everyday CrossFit members — just like you and me.
2. No One Is Watching (Except to Cheer You On!)
Worried about working out in front of people? You already do it every day in class! Everyone is focused on their own workout, and when they do notice you, it’s just to encourage you.
3. Your Fitness Level Doesn’t Matter
Coming back from time off? Not as fit as you once were? No problem. The Open is about showing up — seeing what you can do today and using it as motivation for the year ahead.
4. The Leaderboard Is Actually Helpful
It’s not about where you rank — it’s about tracking progress. The leaderboard gives you a data point to measure your improvement year after year.
5. It Feels Just Like a Regular Workout (But With More Energy!)
Sure, you might feel a few extra nerves, but at the end of the day, Open workouts are just like any other WOD. The only difference? The excitement and support from your gym make it feel electric.
If I had known all this sooner, I would have signed up without hesitation. So, here’s your sign — join the fun and register now!
